Abstract

Early Childhood gross motor skills are important to develop from an early age. Children's gross motor skills can be improved by a variety of effective learning activities and methods, such as locomotor activities. Early childhood Gross Motor Problems in TK PERTIWI Padang Panjang are not optimal and still need improvement. Some children have not been able to perform limb movements with flexibility, agility, balance, and strength well. There are still children who don't want to move because they are afraid of being teased by their friends, there are children who still don't use game tools and materials according to their respective functions, such as titian boards used as a place to jump, there are children who like to pull their friends while running.

 

This study aims to determine the gross motor development of children, know the process of activities through locomotor activities in children and find out the extent of children's gross motor improvement, this type of research is Class Action Research (PTK). The subjects of the study were the children of group B3 of TK PERTIWI Padang Panjang, in the even semester of the 2021/2022 school year, totaling 6 men and 11 women. The data collection techniques in this study are observation and documentation. In this study, meetings were carried out with 6 meetings, by going through II cycles, Cycle I was carried out 3 times meetings and cycle II was carried out 3 times meetings.

 

          The results of this study show that the improvement of gross motor development of children through locomotor activities. This is indicated by the percentage of success of the child. In cycle one, 3 meetings are carried out with a final result of 45%. The second cycle was carried out 3 times with a final result of 86%. Based on the results of the study in the first cycle and the second cycle, there was an increase of 41%. In the first cycle by 60% and in the second cycle by 92%, the increase was 32% from the increase in the cycle carried out, it can be concluded that this study succeeded in increasing the gross motor skills of children through locomotor activities.
